Are you in the process of designing a bathroom for your new home? If so, you might have put a ton of thought into things like designing the perfect shower and choosing the perfect vanity. One other thing that you will want to put some time and thought into is choosing the right lighting. These are four types of lighting you will probably want for your bathroom.
1. Overhead Lighting
Every bathroom needs overhead lighting. Even though you might traditionally think of a bedroom or living area when you think about a dimmer switch, having one in the bathroom can be a nice thing, since you can dim the lights a little bit when you first wake up in the morning or when you stumble to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
2. Task Lighting
Since the bathroom might be where you apply your makeup or shave, you will want to make sure that you have ample lighting so you can easily do so. This means you will want to put in task lighting near the area where you will be getting ready each day, such as near the vanity. Task lighting should be relatively bright so you can easily see.
3. Accent Lighting
Who says that you can't put art or other items on display in the bathroom? If you are going to be putting up decorative items, consider investing in accent lighting, which can put a spotlight on these items and can make your bathroom look even more beautiful and luxurious.
4. Natural Light
Even in the most well-lit of bathrooms, having a touch of natural light can be a good thing. The bathroom can be a good place for a skylight, since it can provide you with natural lighting without compromising privacy. Having a standard window or two in the bathroom isn't necessarily a bad thing, either, and you can then open the window to let some air in when needed or to help get rid of steam from the shower. Just make sure your windows are properly covered up, either by opting for frosted glass windows or using proper window coverings, so you have ample privacy.
As you can see, there are a few different types of lighting you can get in your bathroom. By ensuring you have these four types of lighting, you can make the most out of your new bathroom, regardless of what you are using it for at the time.
